This position is located in the in the APHIS, Veterinary Services, Field Operation, Logistics Center, National Veterinary Stockpile (NVS). Ensuring the availability of critical veterinary supplies, personal protective equipment, vaccines, antivirals, and other pharmaceutical products and equipment that States, Tribes, and Territories may need. The geographic restriction is defined as Prince George's County, Maryland, selectees are required to reside in the county identified.

Duties

The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity. The duties may include, but are not limited to: Provides technical advice in logistics management planning and operations, investigating and analyzing problem areas that have been particularly resistant to satisfactory resolution. Provides expertise used in developing best practices that result in inventory accountability, reconciliation, and financial reporting. Provides support in logistics management planning and operations. Respond to inquiries or requests for technical assistance from other agencies, states or local governments, emergency responders, etc. Assists States, Tribes, and Territories, plan, train, and exercise for the rapid request, receipt, processing, and distribution of supplies and equipment during an event. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. FOR THE GS-12 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 grade level) that demonstrates: Planning, procuring, storing, managing, and transporting of inventories of materiel that would be required in the event of a natural or technological disaster. Conducting special studies and projects to develop readiness-oriented systems and programs that answer current and future requirements of organization strategic initiatives. Implementing and directing emergency response measures. Working with other agency and federal government employees, state and local government employees, private organizations, pharmaceutical representatives and others to give and receive technical advice and assistance. Developing new or modified work methods. Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
