Duties
Perform duties associated with the receipt, turn-in and issue/shipment of a variety of supplies, materials, and equipment.
Receive, unload, and process incoming shipments manually, by handcarts, and other non-mechanized conveyances, or by operation with a forklift.
Receive both posted and un-posted items to include safeguarding Cold-Chain Management and Temperature Sensitive Medical Products (TSMP), Class I and Class II controlled substances, hazardous chemicals and compressed gases.
Operate electric, gasoline and/or diesel-powered vehicles with gross vehicle weights not to exceed Class 6 (GVW 19,501 to 26,000 pounds).
Operate a 2K forklift truck capable of lifting loads up to 4,000 pounds and as high as 30'.
Serve as the organization's alternate Mail Assistant performing various duties which include the accountability, safeguarding, and maintaining of registers for incoming and outgoing certified, insured, and registered mail.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Within 6 months of employment and annually thereafter, obtain and maintain certification for Cold Chain Management, Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER).
- May be required to apply for and maintain certification(s) for handling Class I and Class II controlled substances.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State driver's license. In addition, must obtain/maintain a military driver's license during tenure.
- Within 6 months of employment, must obtain and maintain a license to operate forklifts up to 4,000 lbs. at the incumbent's expense.
- Position requires employee to work occasional overtime. Incumbent will either be called in during off-duty hours or be required to remain on duty for an extended period.
- Must be able, and willing, to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, hearing protection, aprons, gloves, respirator and/or helmet, etc.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 80 pounds is required.
