About the Position:
The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) at the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Americas is seeking Paralegal Specialists to join a fast-paced office that provides direct support to DoDEA Americas leadership. The DoDEA Americas OGC office's portfolio includes labor & employment law, special education law, ethics, FOIA and administrative law matters. This position is located in Peachtree City, Georgia
Duties
Maintains case and workload management systems.
Drafts responses for the action attorney’s review.
Organizes litigation case files into a current and coherent system.
Identifies legal precedents including laws and Executive Orders, as well as current government-wide and DoD regulations.
Determine the appropriate records and data needed and the best approach to obtain the records/data.
Analyzes information from a wide variety of legal periodicals.
Prepares litigation calendars and organizes logistical arrangements for conducting witness interviews.
Monitors status of pending legal, administrative, and other actions to ensure timely disposition by the action attorney.
Prepares in final form a variety of internal and external correspondence.
Requirements
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- One year trial or probationary period may be required.
- Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
- This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; preparing administrative records and other court-related documents; inputting litigation related transactions such as litigation holds into automated systems; conducting legal research and evaluating legal documents for formatting and supportive evidence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-09).
