The incumbent will serve as a Sanitarian for the Pawnee Indian Health Center. The incumbent will participate in environmental health activities related to and coordinated with the Sanitation Construction Program. This position will report to the District Sanitarian.
Duties
Plans, directs and coordinates a comprehensive environmental health program for the Service Unit.
Advises the Service Unit Director on all matters relating to environmental health including assistance in the development and implementation of program plans.
Prepares and submits to Chief, EHSB, a daily, monthly, and other periodic reports of activities, progress made and problems encountered.
Provides information, guidance, and assistance to Indian communities, families and individuals regarding availability and utilization of resources for improving community and individual environmental health.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A full 4-year course of study that meets all the requirements for a bachelor's degree, and that
included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in a science or any combination of sciences directly related to environmental health (such as sanitary science, public health, chemistry, microbiology, or any appropriate agricultural, biological, or physical science).
or
Experience: Four years of experience in inspectional, investigational, technical support, or other responsible work that provided a knowledge and a fundamental understanding of, and the ability to use, environmental health principles, methods, and techniques equivalent to that which would have been gained through a 4-year college curriculum.
or
A combination of education and experience as described above.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-11 - Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include: independently inspecting and providing advice for proper food preparation and sanitation; inspecting facilities and water/wastewater systems for compliance with standards and regulations; inspecting institutions such as Head Starts, daycares, schools, ambulatory health care facilities, elderly nutrition programs, and/or business establishments against standards and regulations; preparing written reports to discuss finding and recommendations for environmental health conditions of facilities; independently assessing and developing a comprehensive environmental health work plan and program based on the needs of the community; and monitoring data to determine if program objectives are being met and adjusting program direction as necessary.
OR
Have completed of all requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) or 3 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education related to environmental health (such as sanitary science, public health, chemistry, microbiology, or any appropriate agricultural, biological, or physical sciences appropriate to the position).
OR
Have a combination of graduate education and specialized experience as described above that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
