This position is part of the WAPA-RMR-Rocky Mountain Region. As a Engineering Equipment Operator, you will operate earth and material handling equipment, such as tracked dozers, graders, rollers, scrapers, winches, backhoes, compactors, forklifts, and loaders.
**This is not a remote position. The selectee will be required to be physically present at either the Craig or Montrose, Colorado duty location.**
Duties
As an Engineering Equipment Operator, some of your duties will include:
Operate earth and material handling equipment, such as tracked dozers, graders, rollers, scrapers, winches, backhoes, compactors, forklifts, and loaders.
Operate hydraulic, telescoping boom, engine driven, self-propelled or truck mounted cranes. Rating of cranes operated may occasionally exceed 50 tons. Use load monitoring devices.
Coordinate with WAPA's offices of Lands and Environment, other Federal agencies (Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management), and private landowners, for access road and right of way work.
Perform all duties in compliance with DOE and WAPA orders, WAPA's Power System Safety rules, and WAPA's safe clearance procedures.
Operate heavy machinery, tracked dozers, graders, scrapers, front end loaders, backhoes, auger trucks, man-lifts, snow cats, tanker trucks, line trucks, line pullers/ tensioners, mobile cranes, and gantry cranes.
Qualifications
Qualifications: You must have journeyman-level ability in the duties of an Engineering Equipment Operator. You must meet all the qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.

Ability to do the work of an Engineering Equipment Operator at the journeyman level, operating cranes, heavy equipment, or heavy machinery independently and without more than normal supervision.

Working Conditions: Work is primarily outdoors, subject to prevailing weather and terrain. There is exposure to dust, heat,
cold, and high-noise levels. Is subject to hazardous materials (i.e. lead acid batteries, SF 6 gas) and extreme weather conditions. Travel includes remote locations. An annual physical exam is required at Federal expense.
Physical Effort: Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, and kneel. Continuous reaching, bending, and movement of hands, arms, feet and legs are required. Is frequently required to lift items weighing over 50 pounds. May work in close, crowded conditions as equipment or job dictates.
