Performs a variety of administrative, clerical, personnel, procurement, budget, and office automation work.
Duties
Provides administrative support preparing reports and other documents utilizing various software and automated information systems to electronically retrieve, create, review, format, transmit, finalize, print and save documents and reports.
Assists in coordinating information and compiles for specific reports such as awards, budget execution, program management, quality management, training status and wide variety of routine tracking, analysis and reporting products.
Independently performs various general clerical duties in support of the organization's operation.
Receives and answers routine telephone inquiries or refers to the appropriate staff.
Assists with planning, preparing and supporting meetings and conferences.
Prepares travel documents for TDY, PCS, and invitational travel orders. Research travel modes and accommodations, performs cost analysis and recommends most efficient method of travel, makes appropriate arrangements.
Coordinates travel arrangements and resolves discrepancies involving travel method, leave while on travel, overtime and reimbursement errors.
Creates, processes and ensures statutory compliance for travel vouchers in accordance with the most current version of the Joint Travel Regulation.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is an Office Automation (OA) position. Incumbent must self-certify as a qualified typist (40 wpm) for this position.
Qualifications
Who May Apply: Positions are open to:
Recent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution. Short-term training programs (e.g. several two-week programs completed) are not considered an academic course of study.
Current students who will graduate no later than 30 days from the closing date.
Preference eligible veterans who were precluded from applying due to their military service obligation begin their two-year eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty. Eligibility for these veterans cannot exceed six years after degree or certificate completion.
Applicants will be selected at the GS 5 grade level only with a target grade of GS 6.
After Program completion, Department of the Army Recent Graduates MAY be converted to a permanent position or to a term position (a project-based term of employment lasting between one and four years).
To be eligible for conversion to a permanent or term position, Recent Graduates must:
Be a U.S. Citizen
Successfully complete all the requirements of the Recent Graduate Program as defined in the Agency Participant Agreement.
Demonstrate successful job performance.
Meet the Office of Personnel Management qualification standard including any applicable positive education requirements and/or selection placement factors and any other designated special qualifications requirements and conditions of employment (e.g. medical standards) appropriate for the position to which being converted.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-05 grade level, you must have:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal Service which includes procedural and administrative work in an office environment such as preparing correspondence, maintaining files, making travel arrangements, maintaining inventory records, and timekeeping.
OR
Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with related course work in business, secretarial, or technical college, junior college, college or university (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
