THIS IS A NORTH DAKOTA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This ND National Guard position is for a COMPUTER ASSISTANT, Position Description Number D0890P01 and is part of the ND USPFO, National Guard.

Duties

As a Computer Assistant, the primary purpose is to serve as the automated logistics information systems manager with technical responsibility for automated systems and operational management and SARSS-1 System Operator. Develops, implements, and maintains automated logistics information management systems in the Division and provides training for user personnel. Serves as the main point of contact within the Supply and Services Division in communication with Standard Army Management Information System (STAMIS) proponents. National Guard Bureau (NGB), supporting maintenance activities and other USP&FO divisions for the purpose of coordinating the full implementation and operation of automated logistics information management systems. Based on a general knowledge of logistics policies and procedures governing logistics activities, analyzes and determines the needs and methods of data support for the division. Directs and monitors the operation and maintenance of existing STAMIS and locally developed logistics applications. Trains division employees in the operation and maintenance of system equipment. Identifies the cause of operations failure and means of recovery. Coordinates the loading of software changes and program updates with DA, NGB, Data Processing Installation (DPI), other agencies and division branches to ensure system enhancements are synchronized and current. Serves as Information System Security Officer for Supply and Services Division. Responds to ad hoc requests (i.e. Structured Query Language, etc.) for products by working with various sections/branches of the division to produce data retrieval outputs.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the ND National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the ND National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the ND National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposition is mandatory.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess the required one year of specialized experience at the GS-6 grade level or civilian equivalent which includes; 1) working with computer languages, codes or abbreviations; 2) performing production control functions; 3) coordinating work load priorities and scheduling multi requirements; 4) identifying and tracing processing failures; and 5) experience performing specialized projects and assignments using knowledge of fundamental data processing methods, practices and techniques in work involving development, test, implementation and modification of computer programs and operating procedures. You must also possess the experience, training or education to support your claim for the competency statements listed within the assessment questionnaire.
