About the Position: This position is located at the US Army Installation Management Command, US Army Garrison Fort McCoy, Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security, Training Division, Range Branch, ITAM Section, Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. Fort McCoy is located in a good rural area, between Tomah and Sparta.

Duties

Integrate mission requirements with land management requirements. Ensure the execution of validated and funded work plan projects Knowledge of federal laws and natural resource issues and management Coordinate work plan development. Ensure long term sustainment of training land resources. Assess existing and projected training land demands. Advise on the capacity of land resources to support training. Supervise and direct work operations of subordinate program coordinators. Develop an annual budget and submit funding requirements to higher levels Knowledge of GIS, RFMSS, and the Sustainable Range Program Knowledge of Integrated Management Plans: Cultural, Wildland Fire, Natural Resources Knowledge of Range Complex Master Plan Tool (RCMPT) Knowledge of Installation Status Report (ISR)

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires a valid state driver's license.
  • Extended work hours may be required.
  • Potential for exposure to hazardous and toxic substances and environment during inspections of firing ranges and training areas.
  • There is a requirement to enter the impact area after areas have been cleared.
  • Work requires long periods of standing; walking or riding in vehicles over rough terrain; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, reaching, or similar activities.
  • Frequent lifting of moderately heavy items such as equipment and materials that weigh approximately 50 pounds.
  • Pre-employment physical required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement occasionally.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing management and technical expertise to ITAM Program activities. Providing information for Command decision support by presenting briefings, conducting meetings and preparing documents supporting land management decisions. Assisting in the preparation of the Installation Training Area Management annual work plan and annual budget plan. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Environmental PlanningManaging Human ResourcesProject Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
