This position is located on the Huron-Manistee National Forest, Region 9, at Cadillac, MI.
The position is located on a Forest Service unit and is primarily responsible for managing the integration of mobile technologies to enhance public awareness of Forest Service activities, as well as the intended benefits of prescribed management practices.

Duties
Schedule, organize, and execute field projects for detecting, identifying and evaluating natural resource problems , i.e., water, land, plants, animals, and soils.
Compile and summarize data obtained from aerial and ground surveys including natural resource monitoring, evaluations, and pilot tests conducted as part of the project.
Conduct routine analyses; and provide the data to professional personnel.
Use computer programs to organize the data conducted.
Using prescribed procedures, resolves common administrative, technical and/or safety concerns related to the project.
Provide technical knowledge and skills to address specific issues and resolves.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-09: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as one or more of the following: Prepared and presented speeches for special interests groups, schools, and the general public; Answered routine requests for information about the agency and its programs; Presented programs to groups on agency programs and activities; Assisted in developing written materials, feature stories, news releases and magazine articles to disseminate agency activities for internal and external use; Organized and coordinated print and broadcast news and information media interviews with key agency officials; Reviewed print, broadcast, and internet media to analyze public awareness and attitudes regarding agency and activities; Advised management on the probable public reaction to specific proposals, policies and actions; OR a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR an appropriate combination of specialized experience and education (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work..

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
