This is a bargaining unit position with AFGE Local 228. This is not a (drug) testing designated position (TDP). This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Herndon National Guaranty Purchase Center in Herndon, VA. The incumbent serves as a senior Loan Specialist and is responsible for performing reviews to approve final administrative actions on financial and lending activities assigned to the Center.

Duties

Review and make final decisions on financial analysis performed by Specialists on loan applications and/or requests for guaranty purchase. Analyze the most complex and/or problematic 7(a) loan packages nationwide, where extraordinary circumstances require an expert's opinion, and determine the most appropriate final action. Prepare written financial reports, meet with customers, management, third-party reviewers and/or auditors, political interests, industry representatives, or other interested parties to convey complex financial information, eligibility policies, procedures and other technical information in a positive, and effective manner. Ensures that Center staff is meeting quality standards by identifying training needs and recommending training opportunities to the Center Director.

Requirements

• You must be a U.S. Citizen.
• You must be a current SBA career/conditional competitive service employee currently assigned to the Herndon National Guaranty Purchase Center.
• You must successfully complete a background investigation.
• You may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

Qualifications

GS-13: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector performing financial, loan, and loan approval analysis; Processing and underwriting Commercial and Business Loans, along with collateralizing such loans; determining cash flow and repayment ability on complex business and commercial loans; servicing and/or liquidation of Commercial and Business Loan; preparing complex written analyses and reports; and Training and Mentoring staff members.
