You will serve as a Industrial Equipment Mechanic in the Public Works Department of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE.

Duties

You will disassemble diesel engines, gasoline engines, diesel generator units, gasoline generator units, air compressors, pumps, valves, radiators, or exhaust and intake fans to diagnose malfunctions and make repairs You will interpret requirements contained in technical manuals, shop directives, multi-view blueprints, schematics, or other documents to determine critical dimensions and key reference points. You will identify and perform alterations or modifications needed to improve the operation and efficiency of mechanical, hydraulic, and piping systems and components of machinery and equipment. You will disassemble general industrial equipment, machinery, and mechanical systems (e.g., conveyor systems, bridge cranes, air compressors, emergency generators, engine and hydraulic dynamometers, aircraft test blocks) to make repairs. You will perform checks, tests, and troubleshooting tasks to verify work operations and determine the need for repair of systems.

Requirements

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision performing duties including: 1) Installs, replace, adjust and set various regulating or safety devices such as meters, gauges, mechanical/hydraulic governors, electrical/electronic governors and automatic alarms; 2) Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering and manufacturing specifications and other such controlling criteria; 3) Determines the cause of malfunctions and makes repairs to a variety of machinery and equipment which have mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems, controls and features; and 4) Understands how various mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic and fuel systems work together.
