About the Position: The Military Entrance Processing Station plays a vital role in maintaining the nation's military might by ensuring that each new member of the Armed Forces: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force & Coast Guard; meets the high mental, moral & medical standards required by the DoD & the military services. Every MEPS represents state of the art in testing, examining & processing applicants for enlistment into the Armed Forces. This position will be filled on a permanent basis.

Duties

As a Human Resources Assistant (Military/Office Automation), you will: Question applicants to obtain and/or verify complete data required for final data processing of forms and records. Perform records management of electronic and paper applicant records. Ensure recruits have all required documents before releasing for move to next location. Enter data in Command automated system(s) to record applicant processing information.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has been designated as non-sensitive and requires a personnel security background check.
  • This position may require you to work an occasional Saturday.
  • This position may require you to work occasional overtime to accommodate fluctuations in workload based on the daily mission requirements.
  • This position may require you to work shift work (work before 0600 or after 1800 hours).
  • The position requires successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-05: Successful completion of four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-05: If you have some, but not all, of the experience and education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two year (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. TYPING: This position requires a qualified typist with a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
