The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is April through June but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April through May 2024 Open to the first 250 applicants or until 12/19/2023 whichever comes first. Duties

Yosemite National Park: Yosemite, CA Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area: Davenport, WA Mount Rainier National Park: Longmire, Packwood WA North Cascades National Park: Stehekin, WA Duties: Performs construction, alteration, installation, repair, and modification of items and structures such as framework, rafters, concrete forms, walls, doors, finished paneling, window frames, interior and exterior trims, staircases, trusses, beams, and other items. Serves as an inspector on outside contracts and on work performed by less than journeyman of the trade. Repairs doors, windows, wood substitute items, exterior siding, flooring, and interior fabric as necessary in the course of stabilization/restoration, and to ensure completeness and structural integrity. Fabricates duplicate replacements of deteriorated wood members such as molding, beams, timbers and stairways. Physical Demands: Works at benches or while materials are on support which would require considerable standing, stooping and bending. Also works on ladders and scaffolds requiring overhead reaching and working in awkward positions. Must occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lift or move heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Applicants who select Yosemite National Park as a duty location will be required to be able to lift and carry 60 to 80-pound bags of concrete, this is often done alone. Working Conditions: Work is done indoors and outdoors. Some work is performed in the shop area where incumbent is exposed to moderate or high noise levels from operating machinery, saw dust in the air, glue fumes, and hazards associated with woodworking and related power equipment. Incumbent is also exposed to the hazards of ladders and scaffolds and is subject to cuts, bruises, and contusions. Incumbent is required to use protective devices such as earplugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, etc.

Applicants must be physically fit and, as required in the Office of Personnel Management Qualifications Handbook X-118C, must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the job elements listed below to perform the duties of the position at the level for which they are applying. A specific length of time and experience is not required. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. You must meet the 2-point level on the screen out factor/element and an average of level 2 on all factors/elements listed.
