About the Position:
This position is assigned to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy (DASD (MC&FP), Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Personnel and Readiness (USD (P&R)).
Serves within the Military Community Support Programs Directorate on the Data Analysis, Research and Surveillance Team.
Duties
Conduct program evaluation and data analytics involving a broad range of programs addressing the needs and challenges of service members and their families.
Develop reporting and metric methodologies for use in tracking and monitoring programs and services.
Provide expert consultation on all research projects relevant to assigned programs and contracts.
Direct an analytical approach to research alternatives and solutions.
Apply expert knowledge of multiple disciplines, including analytics and statistics to conduct data analytics on program issues and systems.
Identify research needs; plan, coordinate, and monitor research studies and projects to meet organizational or Congressional reporting requirements.
Perform a full range of first-level supervisory responsibilities; plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
Establish feedback mechanisms through the military services and reserve component program managers to conduct ongoing information and needs assessment.
Requirements
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes establishing goals/metrics to track and determine the effectiveness of a program, evaluating programs for continuous process improvement, conducting data analytics to identify trends, patterns and relationships in datasets, planning, coordinating, and monitoring research studies and/or projects to meet organizational or Congressional reporting requirements, and supervising employees and/or leading teams. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
