Duties
Oversees issues relating to physical protection of personnel, facilities, and resources as it relates to organizational operations, terrorist operations, new security technology and trends designed to defeat terrorists or criminal threats.
Prepares updates and briefings for senior-level executives regarding the DLA Disposition Services, Logistics Information Services, and Installation Support at Battle Creek physical security and antiterrorism programs.
Conducts physical security surveys, antiterrorism vulnerability assessments.
Manages centralized physical security and antiterrorism initiatives, tracks physical security and antiterrorism projects for assigned organizations.
Coordinates with appropriate Federal and Department of Defense (DoD) agency, State and local Law Enforcement agency, Military Service, and General Services Administration on physical security matters.
Manages all funding for centralized combating terrorism program of assigned organizations.
Coordinates the identification of critical assets for assigned organizations.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Physical Security Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Conducts physical security reviews and surveys in support of protecting personnel, facilities, and resources.
Coordinates with various law enforcement/military organizations regarding physical security strategies and issues.
Updates, briefs, and advises upper management on physical security and antiterrorism programs, issues, and strategies.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
