Duties
As a Motor Vehicle Operator (Forklift Operator), you will perform the following duties:
Operate vehicles, capable of carrying loads weighing up to 10,000 pounds, to haul, pick up, and deliver equipment, supplies, and materials.
Operate a variety of fork lift equipment to move, stack, unstack, load, and unload materials and equipment.
Operate fork lift to move loads up to 6,000 pounds.
Maintain warehouse storage area to ensure orderly storage of equipment, parts, or supplies.
Make judgement on proper loading of supplies or materials up to 6,000 pounds to ensure safe delivery of items.
Determine condition, expendability, and shelf life of items in warehouse.
Sign for health and comfort items in the absence of the Health and Comfort Officer
Conduct physical inventories of property and equipment.
Operate a pickup, cargo van and a 5 ton box truck.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The maximum entry age for this position is 37 years old. Individuals who are past the maximum entry age limit, but previously served in a
primary position, may be reinstated.
- This position is designated as Primary LEO and the work of this position requires frequent, direct contact in the detention of inmates convicted of offenses against the punitive articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
- Regularly-assigned contacts with inmates expose the incumbent to daily stress and the threat of potentially dangerous situations such as verbal and/or physical attack by the inmate population.
- This position requires the employee to undergo screening for tuberculosis upon appointment and an annual re-evaluation.
- This position requires the employee to pass a Criminal History Background Check. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify
whether they have ever been convicted of such an offense.
- This position requires a pre-employment medical screening and physical examination and an annual re-evaluation.
- Department of Defense Instruction, Number 1325.7 states all confinement facility personnel shall possess a high degree of maturity.
- Department of Defense Instruction, Number 1325.7 states all confinement facility personnel shall have no civilian felony convictions or court
martial convictions for any offense with a maximum authorized sentence to confinement of over one year.
- Position requires the completion the Army Corrections Command Pre-Service Training program to maintain security and control of inmates,
appropriate staff/inmate interaction and understanding the rules of inmate conduct.
- All Army Corrections Command employees are required to take 40 hours of training annually. Employees will receive basic training in inmate
supervision and security as well as specialized training in their field.
- The incumbent of this position will comply will all provisions of the 15th MP BDE Regulation 190-3, Rules of Conduct and ACC Policy Letter #17, Standards of Conduct.
- IAW The Prison Rape Elimination Act, the MCC may not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates, has engaged in sexual
abuse in a prison, jail, lockup community conferment facility, juvenile facility, or other institution.
- Personnel who enter the Military Corrections Complex (within or outside the fence line) consent to inspection of their person and property,
including their vehicle.
- Section 639 of Public Law 106-554 requires agencies to remove law enforcement officers from employment as law enforcement officers if they are convicted of a felony.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. States or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties and occasionally handles items weighing up to 85lbs
with help.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Motor Vehicle Operator (Forklift Operator) without more than normal supervision. Operate vehicles up to five-ton capacity (10,000 pounds) to pick up and deliver supplies and operate fork lift equipment used to move, stack, unstack, load, and unload materials and equipment in warehouses, outside storage areas, loading docks and on and off vehicles. Complete physical inventories of property and equipment - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Employee is required to work on hard surfaces and to stand, stoop, bend and walk when working in warehouse areas. Frequently lifts items that weigh up to 50 pounds. May occasionally be required to lift items weighing 85 pounds, with assistance.
Work is performed both inside and outside. Employee operates vehicles in all kinds of traffic and weather on public roads, and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Employee may have to work in bad weather to pick up and deliver materials. Employee is exposed to extremes of temperatures from -10 degrees Fahrenheit with snow, sleet and ice in the winter to 120 degrees Fahrenheit with high humidity in the summer. Employee is at risk for cuts, scrapes, bruises, and the possibility of broken bones while using small tools, driving truck, operating forklift or when loading or unloading the vehicle. The work requires frequent, direct contact with inmates convicted of offenses against the punitive articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Inmate contacts expose the employee to daily stress and the threat of potentially dangerous situations such as physical attack or riots by inmate population.
This position has been designated as a primary/rigorous and is eligible for Law Enforcement (LEO) retirement coverage under the provisions of title 5 USC 8336(c) and 8412(d) by DoD memorandum dated 19 August 2010. The maximum entry age for positions covered under this retirement is 37 years old. Retirement from this position is mandatory at age 57 with 20 years of LEO service. The maximum entry age may be waived under certain circumstances. Individuals who are past the maximum entry age limit, but previously served in a primary position, MAY be reinstated.
The work requires frequent, direct contact in the detention of inmates convicted of offenses against the punitive articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
