This position is located in the Branch of Outpatient Nursing Services, Division of Nursing Services, Crow Service Unit, Crow Agency, Montana. The primary responsibility of this position is to supervise and administer leadership functions in the areas of professional practice, staff development and education, and quality assurance activities to the Outpatient Nursing Services staff.
Duties
Assigns work to be accomplished by subordinates for a 24 hour period.
Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Nursing in the evaluation of personnel using the Performance Appraisal System.
Participates in the planning, implementation, coordination and evaluation of nursing and personnel educational activities that directly and indirectly affect patient care outcomes.
Maintains clinical competence and expertise in Medical, Surgical, Obstetrical, and Pediatric nursing. Develops an orientation plan for each new employee that is specific to their skills and the needs of the unit and agency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
Experience related to providing ambulatory care services across the lifespan, and have the ability to direct patient flow throughputs to meet patient needs. Must have experience in applying Primary Care Medical Home and Joint Commission standards to ambulatory care, and be able to educate staff in applying those concepts in every day practice. Experience applying Centers for Medicare Services Conditions of Participations and Joint Commission related to nursing, provisions of patient care and infection control chapters to the inpatient department setting and educate staff on compliance as well as experience in creating quality improvement metrics and evaluation methods that result in improvement.
Time In Grade (Merit Promotion Candidates Only)
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
