The position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veteran's Health Administration (VHA), VA Heartland Network (VISN 15), Kansas City VA Medical Center (KCVAMC), Kansas City, MO. The position is assigned to Office of the Director, Executive Service, and works under the supervision of the Fisher House Manager.
Duties
Major duties include but not limited to:
Responsibilities include a wide range of functions such as assisting with inquiries to include lodging eligibility, referral processes, staff/volunteer opportunities.
Assists with documenting donations and the appropriateness and offer of in-kind donations.
Assists with Fisher House events and supply management such as replacement items (i.e., linens, furnishings, food, etc.) which requires some knowledge and understanding of appropriated and non-appropriated accounts, to include general post funds and imprest funds.
Resolves day-to-day administrative problems related to the program and keeps the Fisher House Manager informed of situations than cannot be easily resolved or that may have an impact on guest safety or be beyond the immediate scope of the program.
Extracts, summarizes, and compiles information and assists in the development of resource materials such as hard-copy and computer-based brochures and reports to promote program awareness among Veterans and their families, as well as the general population.
Provides administrative and clerical support necessary to support the management and
coordination of both the Fisher House and Hotels for Heroes Programs.
Maintains the database to ensure accuracy of currently lodged guests, upcoming departures, and needs for extension, cancellations and re-bookings, daily room availability, and all projected lodging needs.
Ensures accurate data collection, performing required monthly reports and meeting monthly report deadlines for forwarding through KCVAMC leadership, VISN, VACO Program Manager, and the Fisher House Foundation.
Interacts with a variety of stakeholders, to include patients, guests, clinical providers, military
liaisons, volunteers, community supporters, hospital leadership, VACO Program Manager,
Congressional staffers, Fisher House Foundation personnel and the general public; all from multiple cultures and generations.
Greets guests and conducts guest orientations.
Receives and addresses guest complaints, along with handling inquiries regarding Fisher House standards and house rules.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/12/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: ability to understand and use computer systems and software, such as Vista, CPRS, Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word maintaining records and databases; coordinate purchase of office supplies and equipment to meet the needs of the program; creates correspondence and program documents; and communicates effectively with internal and external contacts.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary with some standing, stooping, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds. This includes preparation of programs, occasional moving/lifting of equipment (coffee pot, boxes of donated items), etc.
