Duties

Serves as a working leader over employees with the responsibility of ensuring work assignments are accomplished and status or problems are communicated to the supervisor. Provides on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures for the function. Distributes and balances workload and assignments/tasks for team members; provides status and progress of subordinate’s work. Responds to customer calls and resolves problems, research receiving problems regarding customer needs, makes corrections where possible.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Lead Supply Technician, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-08 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Conducts extensive research for required information and/or reconstruct records for complex transactions; Independently performs research to troubleshoot processing problems or resolve situations involving frustrated or discrepant material; Develops and executes basic quality control plans to evaluate the accuracy and timeliness of production processes, and document results using standard spreadsheet and charting software. B. Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work is primarily conducted in an office setting, but involves frequent periods of walking, standing, bending and carrying of items weighing up to 25 pounds, and accomplishing research, corrective actions, and training in a warehouse environment. The responsibilities of the position also involve travel to DLA Distribution Norfolk Naval Shipyard expanded and regional facilities. WORK ENVIROMENT The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. Work in an openwarehouse that is not climate controlled. Assignments may require visits to storage or other industrial areas and involvemoderate risks or climatic discomforts. Protective clothing and gear, and observance of safety precautions are required.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
