This position is located on the Eastern Region 9, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Technical Services Staff with a duty station of Park Falls, WI.
Incumbent serves as a journey level maintenance mechanic. The duties of the position involve carpentry, electrical, plumbing and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC).

Duties
Serves as a journeyman level maintenance mechanic with duties involving carpentry, electrical, plumbing and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC).
Utilizes knowledge of shop mathematics to plan, compute, and layout projects.
Selecting appropriate tools and equipment to use in order to accomplish tasks.
Carpentry duties include planning and completing projects from initial layout to final installation such as, remodeling building interiors and exteriors, installing campground tables, barriers, bridges, doors, staircases, etc.
Electrician duties include troubleshooting all electrical problems that occur such as, removing and replacing electrical fixtures and contrules, rearranging old or installing new outlets, relays, switches, and light fixtures.
Plumbing duties include, repairing waterlines, installing toilets and lavatory fixtures, re-plums lines as needed.
HVAC duties include repairing or replacing evaporative coolers, repairs to refrigerated cooling and heating units, and installing thermostats, water and gas systems, fire sprinkler equipment, and water closets.
Determines the extent of repairs needed and exercises judgment in selecting the methods, techniques, and procedures to use in completing assignments in accordance with accepted trade standards.
Interprets complex instructions, sketches, blueprints, and building codes. Works from work orders, oral instructions, and wiring diagrams that indicate the nature of the repair or installation to be made.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.

- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
