About the Position: Serves as a Strategic Operations Analyst in the Operational Branch in the Decisive Action Division within the Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL).
Duties
As a Strategic Operations Analyst, you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
Maintain situational awareness and actively research matters that positively or negatively affect the Army’s operational readiness and its ability to conduct multidomain operations at the Corps and Division echelons.
Conduct doctrine and literature reviews, research, and analysis to identify trends, root causes, lessons learned, best practices and potential solutions for issues that degrade corps and divisions’ ability to conduct multidomain operations.
Present results of research and analysis addressing corps and division challenges conducting multi domain operations.
Develop communities of interest and collaborate with stakeholders and target audiences during issue identification and development to enhance shared understanding within communities of interest.
Lead or support missions to collect and document lessons learned and best practices from military operations, exercises, events, and activities that inform studies, gap analyses, and projects.
Nominate and develop products for commanders, staffs, and Soldiers to mitigate substantiated shortfalls and gaps, and writes lesson learned products for approved nominations.
Maintains a working knowledge of U.S. Army doctrine for corps and division operations to include FM 3.0 Operations, FM 6.0 Commander and Staff Organizations and Operations, FM 7- 0 Training, and FM 3-94 Armies, Corps and Division Operations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and access.
- This position requires that the employee occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 40% of the time. Potential TDY locations are world-wide and can include combat areas of operations.
- Must meet all Outside the contiguous United States (OCONUS) deployment requirements for duty in foreign countries or combat areas.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license, and any installation, DOD and/or Federal license or certification required for vehicle operated.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) utilizing the military decision-making process (MDMP) to conduct mission analysis on studies or projects related to training development, training support, leader development, education, and/or lessons learned; 2) conducting qualitative research and summarizing results; AND 3) applying quantitative research designs to include one-shot, data capturing, quasi-experimental or approaches.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
