***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Review previous blueprints, specifications, drawings, and plans. Maintain all built drawings for the enterprise. Participate in engineering surveys and initiates, formulates and adapts design plans, specifications. Provide original detailed drawings utilizing AutoCAD/Revit/BIM. Development of designs, plans, and specifications for facility projects. Review previous blueprints, specifications, drawings, and plans; considers possible courses of action, and select the most appropriate methods to be employed Coordinate, technical overview, and inspect construction projects and programs, as well as other technical assignments involving application of engineering principles. Perform technical review of A/E designs and specifications for accuracy and compliance with project mission. Provide alternative creative proposals or solutions for the benefit of the facility. Review drawings, basis for design, design analysis and specifications for conformance to established regulations and criteria set forth in manuals, codes or other guides. Note: This series covers technical positions supervising, leading, or performing work involving applying a practical knowledge of the: methods and techniques of engineering or architecture; and construction, application, properties, operations, and limitations of engineering systems, processes, structures, machinery, devices, and materials. In order to qualify you must meet the Basic Specialized Experience Requirement and Additional Specialized Experience Requirement OR Education Requirement in order to qualify for this position as described below. Basic Requirement - Specialized Experience: MUST possess one (1) year of specialized experience equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Engineering Technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes; Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. AND Additional Specialized Experience: MUST possess one (1) year of additional specialized experience equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of Engineering Technician position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-08 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience includes: experience in the use of Autocad; use of knowledge of Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM); and experience in building construction and related design criteria. (This experience must be documented in your resume) OR Education: MUST have successfully completed two (2) full years of graduate education or a master's degree directly related to the work of this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) OR Combination of Experience and Education: MUST have the equivalent combinations of specialized experience and successfully completed graduate education as described above to meet the total experience requirements to qualify at the GS-9 level. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Computer SkillsContract AdministrationDesignProject Management IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: The work requires long periods of sitting or standing in one position, climbing up ladders and crawling under buildings, visiting active demolition and construction sites, and sometimes being exposed to the elements. There is occasional exposure to high voltage, high noise levels, and the possibility of electrical shock, bums, cuts, and bruises. Physical agility and manual dexterity are essential in that the incumbent must be able to climb, lift, push, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach during normal project inspection procedures.
