Duties
You will review proposed plans, designs, and projects, as assigned, from a technical environmental viewpoint to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
You will resolve problems, including the initiative of, and response to, impact statements concerning the Base's activities on ecology and environment.
You will analyze problems presented, consider alternative strategies in all areas of environmental concerns and provide evaluations and recommendation using professional knowledge to provide alternatives within the environmental and fiscal restraints
You will investigate and provide recommendations to the supervisor for all environmental-related complaints and report findings as assigned.
You will conduct and implement new and/or revised policy directives and regulations from regulatory agencies and higher headquarters.
You will develop and distribute procedural guidance/instructions for implementation and compliance by area commands and quantify their probable impact on operations and funding.

Qualifications
must be demonstrated by one of the following:

Education
Basic Requirements: The individual occupational requirements typically provide at least two methods for applicants to meet the basic requirements of the occupations covered by this standard:
Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
In addition to meeting the above basic entry qualification requirements, you may also qualify based on education OR combination of education and experience, in lieu of the one year specialized experience listed above, through ONE of the following:
(GS-07): Successfully completed 1 year of graduate-level education;
OR
Successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement;
OR
Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
(GS-09): Successfully complete 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree;
OR
Successfully completed master's or equivalent graduate degree;
OR
