Duties

You will assume sole control of missile flight to contain it within missile hazard boundaries and may control multiple missile flights simultaneously. You will perform duties as Missile Flight Safety Officer (MFSO) and Flight Safety Analyst (FSA) for missile flight test conducted at PMRF. You will perform studies of operational systems and subsystems. You will evaluate vehicle aerodynamics, control, propulsive, homing characteristics and failure modes.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. This position is established in the Range Safety Division, Range Operations Department at the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF). PMRF is the world's largest instrumented, multi-mission, multi-environmental, multi-domain training and test range capable of supporting subsurface, surface, air and space operations simultaneously. There are 1,100 square nautical miles (nm) of instrumented underwater range, 42,000 square nm of controlled airspace, and a temporary operating area of more than 2.1 million square nm. This makes PMRF a premier facility for providing range services for the live fire training of military forces of U.S. Navy, Joint and Allied Countries. These operations vary from single-unit to major exercises. Weapons acquisition programs conducting operational testing on PMRF include new missile and radar systems, hypersonic, and Integrated Air and Missile Defense. Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. The Flight Safety Analyst performs range safety analysis and develops the necessary plans and procedures required for the safe execution of missile/target flight tests conducted at PMRF. These plans define safety limits, hazard patterns, vehicle flight termination system criteria, etc., to be used during test events. Incumbent will also serve as a Missile Flight Safety Officer and be responsible for exercising in-flight safety control of target and interceptor missiles. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
