The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is APRIL / MAY 2024.
Duties
MAJOR DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
The primary purpose of the position is to perform building and/or utility construction and maintenance duties. Incumbent utilizes journeyman knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts.
Constructs, alters, modifies or repairs a wide range of features in buildings, quarters and other facilities. Constructs storage areas, workrooms, and offices within existing buildings including framework, rafters, joists, insulation, sheet rock, paneling, doors, windows, and flooring. Builds small structures and replaces deteriorated sections of existing structures. Installs interior and exterior trim materials. Constructs and installs cabinets and builds countertops utilizing Formica or wood. Installs floor coverings such as tile, linoleum, and carpet.
Matches or creates exact reproductions of various components of historic buildings and fixtures. Plans, computes, and lays out projects and identifies material needs. Works from complex instructions, blueprints, sketches, and building codes. Operates various carpentry equipment and tools (e.g., routers, band and scroll saws, and drill presses, etc.) and is able to produce finished products and precise fits, accurate dimensions, and acceptable appearance. Also operates various power and hand tools such as portable drills, clippers, joiners, shapers, sanders, power activated nail guns, combustion type saws, etc. Cuts bevels, rabbets, chamfers, grooves, and compound miter joints and applies plastic laminates to wood and other surfaces on counter tops, cabinets, desktops, and tables.
Performs maintenance, repairs, restoration and stabilization of cultural resources. Builds walls to duplicate or match original masonry. Repairs cavities and channels; eroded areas; missing or damaged parts, all to match original. Removes portions of standing walls and stabilizes remaining historic fabric by capping, veneering, or grouting.
Working from building plans, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings, plans, lays out, troubleshoots, and completes electrical work with little or no technical advice. Interprets and applies the National Electrical Code, local codes, building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
Employee needs to be familiar with handling and proper safety procedures encountered in operations including understanding and using SDS (Safety Data Sheets), along with proper PPE usage. Makes routine and emergency repairs at all park facilities as required. Participates in weekly safety meetings and bi-annual park wide safety days. Employee will adhere to all required park safety rules and OSHA standards. Maintains safety check on division vehicles, i.e., batteries, brakes, fluids, etc.; keeps vehicles clean.
May perform other duties (in the event of park needs) such as janitorial cleaning, trash pickup, grounds keeping, digging, raking or sweeping; and, assisting in transporting camp and work supplies and construction materials.
