Duties
Major duties include the following:
Provide administrative and technical supervision to subordinate staff.
Provide direction of the park to facilitate work.
Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the applicable resource management program.
Direct and supervise the planning, organizing, development, control, and evaluation of operations and management programs for the park.
Represent the National Park Service and the park in primary communications.
Responsible for overseeing and managing natural and/or cultural resource protection of the park.
Subject to Management Directed Reassignment to other park sites (must be willing to relocate).
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-12/18/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-14 grade level, you must possess at least the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience obtained in either the public or private sector. Specialized experience is experience that equips the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position. Managing and supervising park or similar activities with an emphasis on natural management and protection, cultural and resource preservation and protection, visitor use and interpretation, law enforcement, maintenance of physical facilities and administrative programs. Experience may have been gained in recreation management, wildlife management, or other park related work. Examples where this experience could have been gained include supervisory oversight of employees responsible for protection, administration, facility maintenance and operations, and visitor service duties; administrative program oversight and accountability; natural or cultural preservation management; project management and team accountability; or work involving the development and implementation of policy related to protection, conservation, or management of park areas or similar operations; or similar work. You must include hours per week worked.
EDUCATION: There is no substitution of education for experience at the grade level of this announcement.
