This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administrationat the Barack Obama Presidential Library. Incumbent serves as a Museum Technician in the Barack Obama Presidential Library performing a variety of technical duties in connection with the management of the museum collection, including inventorying, registration, documentation and digitization of museum objects.

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-5, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-4 grade level. This experience must be related to the operation or management of a museum or similar collection of valuable objects. For this position, specialized experience is defined as experience: Following established procedures to ensure objects of historical or cultural significance are protected from environmental hazards, such as extreme temperature/humidity, mold, damaging lighting conditions, or pests. AND Assisting in cataloging or inventorying objects in museum collections. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of 4 years above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or 24 semester hours of course work in a related field. Related fields of study include art, history, museum studies, scientific subjects, or other courses related to the position to be filled. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F): Advancement to positions up to GS-5: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
