Duties
Duties:
As an Administrative Operations Assistant within the National Geospatial Program, some of your specific duties will include:
Reconcile transactions, obligations, and unliquidated obligations by account and/or object class codes with system-generated reports to ensure transactions were correctly entered. When errors are detected, researches issues, coordinates with the area of original entry, determines appropriate adjustments and enters transactions into the automated financial system.
Assign appropriate account numbers and object class codes. When errors are found, contact bankcard holder to resolve discrepancies and enters information into automated financial system to ensure equipment, supplies, and other purchases are charges to the correct account. Examine accounting transactions to resolve a wide variety of error and ensures that corrective actions have been accepted.
Advise personnel on travel rules, regulations, and procedures for travel. Review all travel related documents for accuracy, completeness, and conformance with Federal Travel Regulations (FTR). Prepare travel authorizations using the automated travel system and individual authorizations for various travel purposes. Make airline and hotel reservations when requested. Prepare travel vouchers, ensuring submission meets FTR and USGS policy. Review travel vouchers prepared by other personnel for accuracy and corrections prior to submission for payment. Maintain database containing authorizations and vouchers to determine status of each.
Provide advice and assistance to office employees on time and attendance procedures and regulations. Review employee time to ensure property entry of account and hours codes and prepares corrections. Review payroll reports by comparing timesheet reports to financial reports to ensure accuracy of hours, accounts and dollar amounts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is sedentary.
WORK ENVIORNMENT: Work is performed in an office environment.
Qualifications
For GS-07:
Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-7 level:
One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service.
Examples of GS-6 level work: 1) Processes a wide variety of transactions subject to different sets of rules and regulations. Regarded as an expert source of information on processing transactions; completed work is reviewed for conformance with policy and regulatory requirements; numerous and varied guidelines are adapted and applied; 2) Performs a segment of the evaluative work of an administrative function; identifies issues or problems and seeks alternative solutions consistent with applicable regulations. Works independently in completing assignments; completed work is reviewed for effectiveness in meeting goals; guidelines such as regulations, evaluation criteria, and precedents have gaps in specificity.
