This is a NAF position with the 17th Force Support Squadron, located at the Outdoor Recreation on Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, Texas.
This position is considered Regular Part-Time (RPT). You are guaranteed 20 hours, but has the potential to work up to 40 hours/week. You may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. As a RPT employee, you are eligible to earn annual/sick leave and sign up for benefits, to include Health/Dental and Life Insurance, 401k and NAF Retirement.
Duties
Plans, develops, coordinates and conducts a variety of classes and trips in support of a diverse outdoor recreation program.
Manages the Information, Tickets and Tours (ITT) Office. Schedules, publicizes and prompts various classes, trips and other activities.
Analyzes all related costs, coordinated with off-base facilities and attractions to obtain the best possible price for patrons.
Assists with the budget for fiscal year program requirements.
Responsible for developing, establishing and scheduling diversified group and individual tour package services, hotel reservation services, leisure travel services, and discount ticket programs.
Prepares daily activity reports in accordance with established accounting procedures and directives.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must have extensive knowledge of the concepts, principles, and techniques of a broad range of outdoor recreation programs and a
thorough understanding of the leisure interests and motivations of individuals or groups, which would have been gained in a position at
a campground, recreational sales store, travel agency or comparable business. Documented experience in an activity that involved work
in an information tickets, or tours specialty and/or the outdoor recreation field with appropriate certifications; e.g., Wilderness First Aid,
Kayak Instructor, Swift Water Rescue, etc., is preferred, but not required. In depth knowledge of federal, state, and local safety
regulations; e.g. boaters safety, camping safety, etc., also preferred, but not required. Strong organization, administrative and planning
skills required. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Knowledge of and experience with an unusually large
variety of outdoor equipment and its functional use. Must have responsible experience in developing or administering a budget program.
Ability to perform general maintenance and repairs to recreational equipment. Knowledge of lifesaving techniques applied to WSI,
skiing, rafting, hiking and other outdoor recreation activities. Will be subject to an uncommon tour of duty. Requires carrying up to 40
pounds. Subject to satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. This is a
drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier-
1 Background Investigation.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
