This position is located at the Fort Yuma Health Center, Winterhaven, CA. This position will function in various duties involving routine to difficult outpatient responsibilities that require application of pharmaceutical and pharmacy practice. All work is completed under the supervision of a licensed pharmacists. This position will report to the Chief Pharmacist.

Duties

Receives outside prescriptions that are presented to the pharmacy window. Reviews orders for completeness, obtains clarifications as necessary from the patient profile. Retrieves medication from ScriptPro and able to refill cells. Dispenses medication refills and ensures the patient has no questions for the pharmacist. Responsible for all ongoing inventories of drug products and pharmaceutical supplies and their procurement via daily ordering. **This position is being announced concurrently under Delegated Examining Plan (DE) procedures. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Individual Occupational Requirements: Qualifying specialized experience may have been gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories. Experience must have been provided a knowledge of: Pharmaceutical nomenclature; Characteristics, strengths, and dosage forms of pharmaceuticals; Pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures; and the Variety of procedures and techniques involved in the care, storage, repackaging, bulk compounding, and distribution of pharmaceuticals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-5: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Types prescription labels; calculates doses to match physicians order; fills prescriptions; fills the unit-dose medication cart; repackages drugs into usable size; maintains pharmacy store room and hospital drug stocks; records necessary information on control logs. Explains pharmacy prescriptions to patients as necessary OR; Education: completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study in pharmacy, or that included at least 24 semester hours in pharmacy-related courses OR I have successfully completed pertinent specialized training courses in pharmaceutical and pharmacy practices while serving in the Armed Forces which is creditable on a month-for-month basis up to the 1 year of specialized experience (Transcripts must be submitted) OR; Combination of Education and Experience: When combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-05 grade level. GS-6: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Prepares sterile solutions in the pharmacy; manufactures products to fill a single prescription or drug order; inspects final products for accuracy and delivery. Records prescription refills and dispensing of over-the-counter drugs into patients medical record OR; Education: Completed 6 months (9 semester hours) of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position. (Transcripts must be submitted) OR; Combination of Education and Experience: When combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-06 grade level. (Transcripts must be submitted). Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
