Duties

Develop and distribute outreach materials including brochures, fact sheets, web content, and other targeted information Perform supervised work related to public affairs and communication activities, such as responding to media inquiries, generating media interest, and coordinating agency information and outreach programs, etc. Establish and/or maintain effective professional relationships with local groups Support educational outreach and partnership programs Assist in planning and coordinating events for various audiences. Prepare and/or present informational material for the public while considering various points of view and levels of understanding from people with different backgrounds, interests and perspectives on government programs.

Qualifications

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the minimum qualification requirements - please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. To qualify for the GS-07 grade level, 1 year (12 months) of creditable specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) is required. Examples of work experience include but are not limited to: Assisting with researching, drafting, and distributing informational materials to further public, employee, and customer understanding of the organization's mission. Preparing digital media products for internal and external distribution such as social media, website content, graphic design, photography, videography, etc. OR 1 full year of graduate level education in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled OR superior academic achievement. Superior Academic Achievement (See OPM's General Policies, Application of Qualification Standards Section 4.f.) S.A.A. must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements within the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level. Physical Demands: Most of the work is performed in an office setting. Driving a car or pickup truck is periodically required. The work may require walking outdoors and travel in light aircraft, helicopters, and off-road vehicles. Long workdays are occasionally required to meet deadlines. Work Environment: Most of the work is performed in an office setting although travel to field sites or other BLM/government offices is often required. Attendance at meetings at night or on weekends is sometimes required. The incumbent must adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribed in manuals/supplements or by the designated Safety Officer.
