These positions are located within the Pharmacy Contact Center (PCC) which is part of the VISN 8 Clinical Contact Center (CCC). **Selectees will physically report to a V8 home base (options listed under Duty Locations above) Medical Center to do onsite facility orientation, trainings, and meetings. Current V8 CCC employees living outside of the V8 catchment area may be hired for their current home base location. Telework may be granted after training is complete.

Duties

The V8 CCC recently achieved a milestone of EIGHT MILLION contacts by Veterans addressed in just over two years which speaks to the trust and confidence Veterans have in us. We provide a regional, modern, reliable service that improves access, maximizes first contact resolution, and provides exceptional customer service to America's heroes. Our team partners in four core services - Scheduling and Administration), Clinical Triage, Pharmacy, and Medical Providers. Nurse triage via telephone assesses urgent and episodic care needs, while the medical providers see patients' same day and often within minutes via video or telephone while supporting the Veteran's full continuum of care. Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians provide comprehensive Pharmacy care and services, and Advanced Medical Support Assistants schedule appointments across VISN 8 and within the Clinical Contact Center. The V8 CCC is the Veteran's virtual "front door" to care and services within VISN 8 and is committed to being a high reliability organization with innovation and the Veteran at the center of everything we do. The Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for the professional and administrative management of an assigned area in pharmacy service, to include budgetary execution. The primary responsibility of the Pharmacy Supervisor for the Clinical Contact Center (CCC) is the provision of evidence-based pharmaceutical care services through both direct and indirect interaction with patients and providers. The Pharmacy Supervisor serves as a supervisor and provider with prescriptive authority. The Pharmacy Supervisor will also consult with patients with primary care or anticoagulation pharmacotherapy issues. The Pharmacy Supervisor has full responsibility to develop necessary services such as physician or APRN consultation, patient monitoring, patient counseling and medication management pharmacotherapy services within the Clinical Contact Center setting. Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education: Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. NOTE: Prior to 2005 ACPE accredited both baccalaureate and Doctor of Pharmacy terminal degree program. Today the sole degree is Doctor of Pharmacy. Graduates of foreign pharmacy degree programs meet the educational requirement if the graduate is able to provide proof of achieving the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Commission (FPGEC) Certification, which includes passing the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT). Licensure: Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia. The pharmacist must maintain current registration if this is a requirement for maintaining full, current, and unrestricted licensure. A pharmacist who has, or has ever had, any license(s) revoked, suspended, denied, restricted, limited, or issued/placed in a probationary status may be appointed only in accordance with the provisions in VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, section B, paragraph 16. English Language Proficiency. Pharmacists must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d). NOTE: Individuals who have or have had multiple licenses and had any such license revoked for professional misconduct, professional incompetence or substandard care, or who surrendered such license after receiving written notice of potential termination of such license by the State for professional misconduct, professional incompetence, or substandard care, are not eligible for appointment to the position unless such revoked or surrendered license is fully restored (38 U.S.C. § 7402(f)). Effective November 30, 1999, this is a requirement for employment. This requirement does not apply to licensed pharmacists on VA rolls as of that date, provided they maintain continuous appointment and are not disqualified for employment by any subsequent revocations or voluntary surrenders of State license, registration or certification. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the below criteria). Grandfathering Provision: All licensed pharmacists employed in VHA in this occupation on the effective date of this qualification standard are considered to have met all qualification requirements for the title, series and grade held, including positive education and licensure/certification/registration that are part of the basic requirements of the occupation.May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determinations: GS-13 Pharmacy Supervisor. Responsible for the professional and administrative management of an assigned area in pharmacy service, to include budgetary execution. Such individuals have responsibilities for supervising multiple pharmacists and technicians. Manages people, maintains effective interdepartmental relations, and cooperates with other services to accomplish the medical facility's mission and goals. Develops performance standards, assures that the program area is compliant with all regulatory and accrediting body requirements, designs and implements orientation and training programs for staff, and develops and maintains systems to monitor the performance of staff activities. Develops policies and procedures relative to their assigned area. Experience. In addition to the GS-12 requirements, must have 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12). Knowledge, Skill and Abilities: In addition to the experience listed above, applicants must also demonstrate the following knowledge, skill and ability (KSAs): Ability to effectively supervise subordinate staff. Ability to communicate orally and in writing to persuade and influence clinical and management decisions. Expert understanding of regulatory and quality standards pertaining to pharmacy. Skill in managing people or programs. Preferred Experience: Clinical Contact Center experience, supervisory experience, systems redesign experience, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
