This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U. S. Coast Guard, Facilities Engineering Division, Maintenance Branch, Training Center (TRACEN) Petaluma, CA.

Duties

The Engineering Technician plans and administer the quality control programs used by the Service Provider (SP) to ensure quality standards are met while performing facilities maintenance, management and operations services for TRACEN Petaluma. The incumbent is primarily concerned with the systematic prevention of defects and nonconformance, the identification of unsatisfactory trends and conditions, and the correction of factors which may affect the delivery of acceptable services.

• Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• This position requires a pre-appointment physical.
• The position requires a valid state driver's license.

Qualifications

GS-9 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-8 level.  Specialized experience is: Knowledge of techniques, regulations, and requirements related to quality assurance programs for facilities maintenance processes. Interpreting technical data, data analysis, and regulations. Knowledge of fact finding or investigative and inspection techniques to analyze and evaluate facts. Explaining expressed technical information, requirements and specifications to quality problems to individuals or groups effectively. Documenting findings and developing recommendations for corrective actions and process improvements. OR Two full years of graduate education OR a Master's Degree meets the requirements for GS-9.
