This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serve as a Data Scientist/Analyst for the US Army Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Program Initiatives, located in Arlington, VA.

Duties

Execute studies that address advanced data modeling techniques and procedures. Coordinate data trend analysis and the development of mathematical data algorithms. Develop innovative/effective approaches and methodologies. Generate actionable insights applying advanced statistical techniques. Support the development of proposals and projects that align with sexual harassment. Develop relevant resources applicable to sexual harassment and sexual assault, sexual harassment.

Requirements

  • Must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for a Data Scientist: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. (Transcripts required at the time of application.) OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. (Transcripts required at the time of application.) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing a variety of applications to extract data, such as, Oracle, Tableau, SQL (Structured Query Language), R, Python, etc.; preparing comprehensive statistical reports related to data science methodology for public health surveillance; combining, analyzing, and interpreting large and/or complex data sets to develop data-driven organizational solutions; and conducting in-depth analysis of public health data and disseminating the results of those analyses. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
