You will serve as a Piermaster Superintendent in the Docking Operations Department, Code 340 of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will manage and direct pier arrangement, set up for ships berthing and control the movement of vessels into and out of dry docks. You will determine appropriate berthing locations based on multiple factors including physical characteristics of the vessel, purpose of the vessel’s stay, pier and crane capabilities, and space considerations based on other vessel schedules. You will review long and short range ship and work schedules to identify berthing demands and work package requirements. You will coordinate with project teams to provide waterborne support craft as need to support productive efforts and resolve conflicting priorities between projects. You will ensure the safe moorage of all vessels at the Shipyard including vessels undergoing repair/overhaul, homeported vessels, inactivated vessels in storage, tugs, barges and other floating stock.

• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
• This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
• Work is performed in an office setting and throughout the Shipyard industrial area, on ships and submarines, on piers and in dry docks. Walking, bending, and climbing of stairs, scaffolding and ladders is required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: coordinating the movement and moorage of vessels and pier arrangements in support of docking operations.
