About the Position: The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers is comprised of motivated and talented employees providing the very best engineering services for communities in the Pacific Northwest. The District helps manage local water resources for navigation, flood damage reduction, disaster assistance, hydroelectric power generation, and other natural and heritage areas.
Duties
Responsible for planning, scope, development, design, construction and direction of important civil works/military projects.
As the project team leader, implement corporate decisions, guidance, laws, regulations and policies in the development of the project and intermediate products in support of the project.
Negotiate and integrate all District functions sponsor/customer needs and other agencies' commitments in support of assigned project into a comprehensive management plan.
Integrate schedule, milestones, budget, responsibility of the participating parties, assumptions and risks, contingencies and performance measurement criteria.
Coordinate planning, design, cost-engineering, construction and environmental restoration, etc., for engineering or planning projects.
Control and manage project milestones and budgets from planning through construction and initial operations.
Allocate project funds to District elements, consistent with progress attained, and monitors performance to ensure commitments are being maintained.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Experience controlling and managing project management milestones and budgets from planning through construction and initial operations; 2) Experience performing construction project management and contract administration; AND 3) Experience in leading or working on large scale renovation/construction projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
