Duties
You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK SERVICES) in the NETWOKR COMMUNICATIONS BRANCH (N621), IT OPERATIONS SERVICES DIVISION (N62), IT SERVICES DEPARTMENT (N6), NAVAL OCEANOGRAPHIC OFFICE, STENNIS SPACE CENTER, MS.
You will plan, design, implement, operate, sustain, and optimize IT networking, cyber security systems and communications capabilities for internal and external mission objectives supporting users, customers, and partners.
You will manage and operate specialized IT systems and technologies for Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) operations.
You will directly manage and support external telecommunications circuits, technologies and services to include DoD nodes, and ship to shore connectivity for command, partners and customers.
You will perform analytical work to troubleshoot and resolve hardware/network interface and interoperability problems.

- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 441 level Intermediate (I) within 12 months of appointment.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Manages and configures network services.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Provides support to the end user by diagnosing and solving a variety of computer and system problems.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Provides advice and guidance to managers and customers.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Applies methods and practices for troubleshooting, recovering, modifying, and improving systems to solve complex problem
GS-09: In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
Experience performing networking systems administration level skills needed to plan, implement, operate, sustain IT networking such as LAN switches and routers, cyber security systems such as firewalls and communications capabilities to meet operational requirements.
GS-11: In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
Experience performing work as a Network Operations Analyst in direct promotion of IT business processes of the Command, partners and customers through analysis of IT capabilities and technologies, and conduct solution formulation in order to meet objectives and change management requirements.
Experience managing, operating and sustaining specialized IT systems and technologies such as routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detections systems (IDS), authentication servers and telecommunications circuits for Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) operations.
