The primary purpose of the work in this position is to coordinate art movement projects and packing needs for National Gallery loans. This position is responsible for enforcing the Certified Cargo Screening Facility mandates as an assistant facility coordinator.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-1016-12. A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, coordinating art movement projects and packing needs for National Gallery loans. Rather, you must show in your resume how your past work experience demonstrates that you possess the KSAs identified below. DO NOT write "see resume" in your application. Those applicants who meet the minimum qualification requirements will be evaluated against these factors to determine the best-qualified candidates. 1. Possess comprehensive knowledge of art history sufficient to verify and identify objects and has mastery knowledge of current museum registration and art handling techniques and practices.   2. Comprehensive knowledge of art handling, hanging, installation, packing, and movement techniques to assure safety and security and the ability to determine best methods to be used for handling any medium of art.   3. Knowledge of the planning, organizing, and bringing to completion projects that include shipment of a large group of loans, oversize objects and items of extreme weight and fragility from the collection.   Note: Applicants who are referred to the hiring office for selection consideration may be required to submit writing and/or work samples as part of the interview/selection process.
