About the Position: This position is for a Police Officer GS-0083-07 position with Department of Army, Installation Management Command (IMCOM), Directorate of Emergency Services, Police/Provost Marshal Division located at Fort Carson, Colorado.

Duties

Serve as shift Desk Sergeant, assigned to specific shift operations. Ensure that work assignments of employees on the shift are carried out. Interpret rules, regulations, and operating procedures, and answer general inquiries. Maintain records, prepare journals, blotters, and reports. Perform Police Officer duties on a variety of fixed and mobile posts (installation access control points, family housing, troop areas, training areas, commercial facilities, administrative, equipment storage, etc.)

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed Secret Background Investigation.
  • Be able to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment.
  • Incumbent must pass periodic medical examination (physical, emotional and mental stability, etc.).
  • Incumbent must pass a physical agility test (PAT) as a pre-employment requirement, and annual thereafter.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Incumbent must successfully graduate from the DA Police Academy.
  • Incumbent must be qualified and certified in the use of chemical aerosol irritants, tear gas, and radar gun.
  • State certification, if required, for radar and breathalyzer operations.
  • Incumbent is required to maintain requirements of Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW AR 190-56.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to use a computer keyboard, data entry, retrieval, and query functions. Does not require a qualified typist.
  • Heavy lifting (in excess of 45 lbs.) is required.
  • Rotating shift work is required.
  • Incumbent must pass an initial pre-employment Physical Exam, and annually thereafter.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by human resources within 30 calendar days after the Entrance on Duty
  • Selectee’s inability to pass, or refusal to conduct the drug test may result in the job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process or subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.
  • You may be required to sign a Statement of Understanding if you are selected for this position.
