About the Position: Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA) is located on the island of Hawai'i in the high plateau between Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea and the Hualalai volcanic mountains. It includes a small military airstrip known as Bradshaw Army Airfield. The area of 108,863 acres (440.55 km2) is the largest United States Department of Defense installation in the state of Hawaii, or anywhere in the Pacific.
Duties
Serve as the installation training facility scheduler.
Compose and publishes the weekly Range Bulletin.
Prepare and coordinates publication notices of these scheduled activities in the Range Bulletin.
Provide Range Specialist with scheduled events requiring surface danger diagrams and follows through until the scheduled events is finalized on the firing log.
Provide schedules to the automated range supervisors and communications supervisor for the purpose of range preparation and scheduling personnel to man the scheduled resources.
Provide training resource scheduling assistance to United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) units, United States (US) Army Reserve, US Army National Guard and other users.
Procedurally assists users with questions relating to scheduling, and the most advantages use of resources, resolves conflicts between users and recommends acceptable alternatives of coordinates co-use of facilities.
Makes decisions on road closures/denied access or other actions restricting unlimited access to roads on the reservation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Assists to ensure range training is scheduled in accordance with legal requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Safety and Occupational Safety.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
