Position is located in the Health Information Management Department of Phoenix Indian Medical Center, Phoenix, Arizona. Incumbent serves as a Lead Medical Records Technician (OA) in Release of Information (ROI) section. Primary function; performing, responsible for a technical medical record functions involving guidance, educating, and training of the ROI RPMS package within guidelines of HIPAA, PA, FIA and FMRA. Direct Supervision to Medical Record Administration, HIM Department.
Duties
Serving as leader, responsible for directing MRT (ROI) staff, distributing, balancing work, progress of work and prioritize.
Update Supervisor of problems, backlogs, estimate of report completion date.
Instruct employees on specific task and job techniques, along with job training as needed.
Ensure established standards are meant along with informing employees of services and employee activities, along with oversee ROI daily functions.
Check work progress, conditions of area and monitor along with approving leave for staff within scope of work.
MRT (ROI) duties are to serve as Medical Information/Correspondence Technician, assisting patients; Medical care providers, insurance companies, attorneys and other Health care facilities .

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S)
Applicants must meet the following typing proficiency: 40 words per minute based on a five minute sample with three or fewer errors.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-07: Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis of Electronic Health Record (EHR) medical records utilizing anatomy and physiology, disease processes, medical terminology, medical-legal requirements governing medical records and medical record references (i.e. Legal requests (tort and subpoena), Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Privacy Act of 1974, and HIPAA Privacy of 1996). Maintain confidentiality during communications with internal and external customers to protect the security of the medical record.
Time In Grade:
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
