About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Cold Regions Research Engineer Lab (CRREL). GS 7: $46,696 - $60,703 GS 9: $57,118 - $74,250 GS 11: $69,107 - $89,835 This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Performs a variety of mathematical duties, specializing in simulations and models using various computer software packages and programming languages. Utilizes knowledge of computer programming, systems analysis, and applied mathematics. Investigates new methods of utilizing higher mathematics to solve engineering and scientific problems. Assesses the role of spatial- temporal heterogeneity on transducer signal response in natural and disturbed environments. Provides expertise in response for military direct projects and military reimbursable projects. If selected at the GS-7 or GS-9 level, duties will be performed in a developmental capacity.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in mathematics; or a degree with the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics. The total course work must have included differential and integral calculus and, in addition, four advanced mathematics courses requiring calculus or equivalent mathematics courses as a prerequisite. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics), as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The total course work must have included differential and integral calculus and, in addition, four advanced mathematics courses requiring calculus or equivalent mathematics courses as a prerequisite. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
