This position is responsible for installation, testing, maintenance and repair of facility piping and plumbing systems for the VA Eastern Colorado Healthcare System (ECHCS) located in Aurora, CO. Duties to include work requested and performed within all ECHCS facilities including Denver Campus, Fitzsimmons Campus, and Community Based & Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) locations.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Installs, modifies, repairs, and maintains high temperature water and high-pressure piping systems and equipment such as hydraulic, nitrogen, oxygen, steam-heating, and steam-generating systems.
Repairs/rests/Maintains plumbing systems. Install, modify, and repair new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems. repairs/maintains equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems and water closets, tubs, waste macerators, fire sprinkler systems, lawn sprinkler systems, emergency eyewash, and showers.
Install plumbing systems. Installs, modifies, and repairs systems by locating and tapping main lines, setting up system routes, placing and cutting route openings, placing hangers for proper level and slope.
Modifies plumbing systems. Plans and lays out the needed routing, placement, slant, slope and fall of systems.
Knowledge of how various high-pressure piping systems and equipment, such as steam heating, steam generation, and circulating pumps, are installed and operate.
Ability to interpret and apply building plans and blueprints, and to use shop mathematics to lie out angles, arcs, and circles.
Work Schedule: Sunday - Saturday - 4:00am to Midnight

Physical Requirements: Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and where the systems and equipment worked on are in hard-to-reach places. Stands, stoops, bends, kneels, climbs and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently handles, lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds). Occasionally, lifts and carry items that weigh over 23 kilograms (50 pounds).
