About the Position: This position is located at the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE), Fort Moore, Ga. The MCOE is located 100 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia, and is adjacent to Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Public transportation and free parking are available.

Duties

Prepare legal documentation and opinion delineating facts and points of law. Perform extensive and detailed research in technical aspects of claims activities during preparation of each case and is responsible for the factual completeness and accuracy of case files. Analyze prior decisions and court cases to determine the effect of those decisions on the right of the United States to assert a claim against the third party. Analyze and evaluates all facts and evidence to determine legal issues and sufficiency of evidence or documentation.

Requirements

  • May travel away from duty location up to 5% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Incumbent must be able to maintain a valid state driver’s license to operate a government vehicle.

Current Department of Army Civilian Employees In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Independently investigate and adjudicate tort claims; 2) Perform a full range of paralegal tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ConscientiousnessCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Integrity/HonestyTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
