The primary purpose of this position is to ????install, fabricate, design, repair, modify, trouble shoot and maintain various complex and non-standard industrial electrical systems, specialized electrical controls, monitoring systems and equipment.

Duties

1. Installs, fabricates, repairs, replaces, modifies, tests, and modifies specialized electrical control or monitoring systems and equipment for installation buildings and structures in support of Research and Development facilities, acquisiton, academia, intelligence, and a major command headquarters. 2. Assembles/disassembles electrical, mechanical systems, subsystems, standby and related equipment to determine extent of repairs, overhaul and/or replacement parts needed. 3. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. 4. Uses and maintains various types of hand and/or power tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons, cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines.

  • The actual work performed in this position has been reviewed and determined that it does not meet any of the exemption criteria defined in 5 CFR 551. This position has been designated as nonexempt
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2800 Electrical Installation And Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of Electrical Equipment Theory and Instruments (Electrical, Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Ability To Use Electrical Drawings Ability to Use and Maintain Hand Tools (Electrical Work) Trouble shooting (electrical) This is an open continuous announcement and will be used to fill vacancies as openings occur.
