About the Position: This position is located at Evans Army Community Hospital (EACH), Fort Carson, CO.
NOTE: Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to veterans' preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment.
Duties
Serve as the shift leader with responsibility for leading 5-6 security guards on 3 shifts, 24 hours a day, 7 days per week basis.
Develop schedules and shift training plans, based on requirements identified by the Chief, Security.
Participate in the interview, selection and orientation/certification of new employees.
Provide on-the-job training as required.
Assign work and assure that all employees meet scheduled and priority assignments established by the Chief, Security.
Requirements
- This position requires successful completion of semiannual weapons and taser qualification testing.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear protective body armor.
- This position requires a minimum Secret security clearance. The incumbent must remain eligible for the required clearance at all times while serving in this position.
- This position requires an initial medical examination and annual thereafter.
- This position requires a pre-employment drug test and random drug testing thereafter.
- This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
- This position requires rotating shifts which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and/or overtime.
- This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position.
- This position is a Mission Essential position.
- Must obtain and maintain a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid drivers license.
- Must pass an initial and annual physical agility/ability test.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear uniform and/or protective clothing.
- This position may require an immunization screening.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes demonstrated/documented experience in: 1) Responding to various calls such as, suicide attempts/threats or other situations that involves life threatening emergencies or potential criminal acts; 2) monitoring closed-circuit television (CCTV) screens, duress and Intrusion Detection System (IDS) alarms; 3) writing incidents reports, investigations and findings regarding an incident; AND 4) assisting with training new employees.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
