These positions are located in the Pacific Northwest Region, Region 6 with duty stations in Forest Service offices. See "Next Steps" for specific locations. Incumbents serves as primary assistant in natural resources planning and environmental law compliance, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and National Forest Management Act (NFMA). Duties

Coordinates preparation of forest plan amendments, supplements, or revision according to the requirements of NEPA and NFMA. Prepares a wide variety of assessments, reports, studies, and other actions required by NFMA and related laws and regulations. Participates in the development of local policies and procedures, and the periodic evaluation of the effectiveness of NEPA planning and compliance with policies, laws and regulations. Organizes and facilitates meetings and other NEPA processes. Tracks, monitors, and evaluates the implementation of mitigation commitments. Reviews monitoring results, initiates and coordinates actions resulting from the Forest Supervisor’s decisions to adjust, amend, or revise the Forest Plan. Prepares budgets for NEPA planning and forest plan amendments or revision including personnel, equipment and supplies required to design, plan, and implement land management plans and other assigned projects. Manages the processes for the development of resource assessments, Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), Environmental Assessments (EA), decision documents, and related support documents for proposed forest plan changes.

Requirements

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Basic Requirement:GS-0401: GS-0401: Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that included courses equivalent to a major, as shown above plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess the experience in the amounts listed below: Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-12: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Qualifying specialized experience includes meeting one or more of the following: Planned directed, and advised land management personnel on compliance efforts regarding National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), land management related legislation, and agency specific plans and policy; Mediated conflicting viewpoints of Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) members on preparation and processing of categorical exclusions, environmental assessments, and environmental impact statements; Executed and coordinated final evaluation and review of environmental analysis documents for land management projects and/or programs to ensure compliance with multiple environmental policy requirements. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Work Experience: Your resume must clearly document the following for each block of work experience; the beginning day, month and year the work assignment started and ended; the hours worked per week; position title, and series and grade if applicable; and description of duties performed. This information must be provided for each permanent, temporary, or seasonal appointment/work assignment or volunteer work and should be clearly documented as a separate block of time.
