The primary purpose of this position is to provide secretarial and administrative support for the Section Chief, along with direct and indirect support for the entire Centralized Attendant Section.
Duties
Duties include but not limited to:
Performs telecommunications support assignments to include customer service in recognizing and routing patient and other inquiries to correct VISN 12 clinic or office.
Operates VISN 12 Call Center equipment to receive, connect incoming and outgoing calls utilizing complex telecommunications computerized software.
Knowledge of filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, taking shorthand, and using and completing forms.
Provides information to customers concerning telephone extensions, organizational functions, and staff information.
Assists officials responsible for the functioning of the program and identifies problem areas.
Knowledge of the principles, procedures, and tools of data management, such as modeling techniques, data backup, data recovery, data dictionaries, data warehousing, data mining, data disposal, and data standardization processes.
Answers/places non routine telephone related activities such as international calls/faxes and records the time/date, facility name of person etc.
Assists in training other personnel in the proper use, operations, and care of computer and telecommunications equipment.
Using established procedures, the employee independently performs recurring processes working without specific instructions.
Routinely communicates and treats customers in a courteous, tactful and respectful manner.
Work Schedule: Full-Time; Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/07/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level that equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to complete the duties of the position. Such knowledge and skills are identified in the position and include knowledge and skills in: extensive body of rules, procedures or operations applied to clerical assignments, and organization and functions of the office in order to perform all of the procedural work of the office; coordinate the work of the office with the work of other offices and for recognizing the need for coordination in various circumstances; Prepare a wide variety of recurring internal reports and documents from information obtained from the staff, files and other sources; correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization and style; a qualified typist is required.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts, which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, or libraries. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
