This position is located at the Gainesville VA Medical Center. The purpose of this position is to service as the Staff Trainer within Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS). Position is aligned under the Assistant Chief, Prosthetics. Will work in tandem with the Prosthetics Clinical Performance Improvement Coordinator to coordinate and facilitate training, providing knowledge and guidance to appropriate frontline and supervisory administrative staff.

Duties

Major Duties Include (but not limited to): Conducts and administers training programs, developing and improving training guidance, and facilitatesclasses or other group-setting instruction. Assists the Prosthetics Performance Improvement Coordinator with entry and tracking of all employee education and training hours, utilizing established guidelines. Assists in developing and updating training guides and plans and written internal procedures. Assist the Performance Improvement Coordinator with entry and tracking of all employee education and training hours, utilizing established computer system software (Talent Management System). Assists in the coordination and provision of mandatory scheduler and Soft Skills training for VA employees. Performs scheduling audits to identify inconsistencies and clinic areas in need of training. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/07/2023. GS-09 Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Training Instruction Series 1712 Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR): Applicants must satisfy the IOR to be further considered for the position. Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. OR Experience: Specialized Experience: Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: GS-09 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Assists in reviewing, analyzing and evaluating training courses and programs. Develops and updates training guides and plans and written internal procedures. Creates specialized training agendas and/or orientation plans which detail the scope and functions. Participates & provides input during orientation progress meetings, coordinates monthly trainings. Uses Microsoft Lync, Word, Excel and PowerPoint software to develop training tools and materials. OR, GS-09 Substitution of Education for Experience (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED): Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR, GS-09: Combination of Education and Experience (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and graduate education beyond beyond the 1st (first) year. Note: One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Physical Requirements: Work is normally accomplished in an office setting, however, due to the nature of the position and duties, active physical effort will be required. Incumbent will be responsible for handling, - carrying all training material (handouts & equipment) which would could consist of lifting and carrying light boxes (50 pounds or less) to the sites/locations training is to be given.
