This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serve as a Senior Health Physicist (Current Operations Modeler) for the US Army Nuclear and Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Agency (USANCA), Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS) G-3/5/7, Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA).
Duties
Review and study proposals of radiation-related documents to assure completeness and compliance with all Army, Federal, State and Local regulations.
Interpret and apply the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Environmental Protection Agency, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Department of the Army (DA) regulations, standards and guidance
Provide regulatory and technical advice to professionals within Army organizations.
Prepare specifications and recommendations for nuclear power reactor employment and decommissioning projects performed by Army organizations.
Plan and perform or direct the coordination of the Army Reactor Council for activities under the Army Reactor Program.
Serve as a deployable health physics modeler on the nuclear employment augmentation teams.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes interpreting the results of analyses in the areas of health physics, radiation effects on personnel, and nuclear reactor management, to determine validity and scientific significance; making significant technical and scientific recommendations regarding nuclear power reactor employment and decommissioning projects; developing regulatory guidelines and doctrine for a Nuclear Reactor Program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
